Christine’s practice is focused around creating a healthy platform for living. One of her specialties is providing nutrition coaching for energy, stress, body and life balance.
Interviewer: I’m speaking with Christine Eubanks, a NLP master practitioner, and a relationship, life, and wellness coach. Welcome, Christine.
Christine Eubanks: Thank you. It’s so nice to be here talking with you.
Interviewer: I wonder, Christine, if you could explain a little bit about your practice.
Christine Eubanks: Yes, absolutely. There’s all kinds of titles in there, aren’t there? For those who may not be familiar, NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. And the idea is that, often with coaching, people can have a really difficult time making changes in one particular area or another. They continuously hit a block at some point. And so, as a master practitioner in NLP, I help them to move effortlessly through those changes, by working with their subconscious mind to bring about change in a way that works with their whole ecology, to move in the direction of what they’re seeking.
And mostly, my practice is in helping women make sure that their current or next relationship doesn’t end up like their last one. That’s including a lot of different wellness practices and really focusing on themselves, and how they’re showing up in their relationship with themselves, in addition to others.
Interviewer: Great. Sounds like you’ve got a really well-rounded practice. What are some of the techniques you use to get new clients?
Christine Eubanks: There are a lot of different ways that are available to us nowadays. The Internet makes us available as practitioners to anyone that’s available and looking for some help or seeking any kind of answer. So I use a combination of all of the things available to us. I use social media, primarily things like Facebook and Twitter. I use just good old-fashioned networking, going to events and meet-ups, and different events where I can get to know individuals. And then referrals. A lot of my work in my practice comes straight through good old-fashioned referrals, which is something that a lot of people are overlooking in today’s world, but is just as useful and helpful as all of these other tools available to us.
Interviewer: And on a related note, how do you market your business?
Christine Eubanks: I market my business with my newsletter, which I send out either weekly or biweekly to all the subscribers on my list. I also do different flyers and brochures at local places where I have connections, things like yoga studios and local practitioners like chiropractors and doctor’s offices. And then a lot of my marketing is done over the Internet. There’s great opportunities to look into social media and understand who on LinkedIn I’m connected to, and from there how I can get to know other people. That really is a form of marketing in and of itself because I see marketing as how I connect with and relate to others. And then, of course, my website. My website is a key tool for me in marketing my business because it’s a place where people can go, and learn about information about me, my practice, what they’re looking for, read my blogs, or just get some information to help them with what they’re dealing with.
Interviewer: With so many things on the go, how do you efficiently manage your time?
Christine Eubanks: I’m really big on segmenting my time and blocking it, so that the boundaries are set for me. I have a personal life and a professional life. I only see clients on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays. And then, by appointment only on Mondays, if I cannot fit them into a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule. And so that really allows me to be able to segment and say, “Okay, on most of my day on Monday, I’m looking at what is my marketing, what are my blogs doing, how am I connecting and networking with others, and scheduling those things into my Monday schedule.” Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, I’m working with clients, and then Friday is my day for me. And that’s where I schedule personal services like massages or cranial sacral or acupuncture, so that I’m restoring my energy and maintaining my balance because I can only show up for my clients as well as I’m taking care of myself.
Interviewer: Yeah, that’s so important. You’re right, taking care of yourself so that you have more to give for your clients.
Christine Eubanks: Absolutely. And I don’t see clients on the weekends. I feel that that is my time to spend with my family. The clients that want to get on my schedule will make sure that they find time during the week. That’s important to me is being balanced, particularly as a relationship coach. I want to make sure that I am cultivating and always holding space for my relationships, with my family, with my friends, and with myself, in addition to the space I hold for my clients.
Interviewer: Now, final question. If you could wave a magic wand, what’s the one thing that you’d change about your practice if you could?
Christine Eubanks: If I could wave a magic wand, I would probably make it so that more people understood what NLP is. Because it’s one of those modalities that, if you Google it on the Internet, it doesn’t get a whole lot of a great reputation. But the training that I’ve done in it takes a very Northern California approach of mind-body-spirit, and it really looks at how the individual and the soul of the individual is being nurtured. And I find that to be something that’s drastically missing in the awareness of what’s available to people as a human modality. And so if I could change something about my practice, I’d create more awareness for wellness as a whole, and within that, NLP specifically.
Interviewer: Fantastic. Thanks, Christine. You have a really varied practice, and you’ve really opened my eyes in terms of the amount of impact you can have over different areas. Thank you very much.
